Biography

Hannah Strauss is employed at the Thule Institute, University of Oulu, in Finland. From October 2009 to July 2010 she is based at the Canadian Circumpolar Institute in Edmonton, Alberta. Her PhD project with the working title "Negotiating Northern Energy Systems" is part of the Human-Environment Relations project project funded by the Academy of Finland.
In her project, Hannah looks at how energy projects are planned and decided upon at the national, regional and local level. The interpretation and implementation of legal requirements together with the application of participatory methods is at the core of societal discourse and thus a major focus of her study.
